UPDATE: email me if trackback spider is sold out and you want a spot, I have a couple of spots reserved for readers of this blog  (calgonite (at) gmail (dot) com ).
Be warned, this post is going to discuss black hat SEO and search engine spam in a friendly manner. Sissy whitehat whiners please abstain. Non-whiners are accepted.
I got an email lately from a buddy of mine Jared Croslow. He’s a pretty low profile kinda guy and you probably haven’t heard of him.
It’s a shame because he runs one of the most useful mass management tools on the web today (actually it’s the best in its class). It’s adequately called Domain Dashboard. I’ll get to Trackback Spider in just a moment, but this guy’s brilliance deserves a little introduction first.
Jared is a perfectionist with an attention to detail and functionality that makes the rest of us good citizens look like slobs. His tool is great for anybody that runs large amounts of sites.
For example, from the same panel, you can access, for each domain: the hosting, PR or the sites, indexed pages, the rank these pages have on the big three search engines, all the backlinks the pages have, the spider visits, the human visitors… In essence everything you need to know about all your domains, at a glance in one convenient location.
It gets better if you practice the darker arts of mass site building. If you’ve ever gone on a run of 500 domains or more, you can appreciate just how irritating it is to add all those domains to your hosting accounts, keep track of the passwords and logins and all that good stuff.
And never mind checking stats, it becomes overwhelming. Domain Dashboard is sold for $149 and it’s a spectacular value you will benefit from everyday of your long and prosperous internet journey.
But this post isn’t about Domain Dashboard. I only mention it because it has established an unparalleled standard of quality and respect for Jared’s work for me and a large slice of the industry.
So here’s what Jared’s email was about. He’s releasing a “trackback submission†software called “trackback spiderâ€. This is a mass trackback posting tool that combines spectacular automation with superb levels of built in intelligence. In other words, every black hatter’s wet dream.
Anyways, I’ve been sworn to secrecy so I can’t leak too much here. Let’s see if I can give you a small idea.
On the one hand, it fetches huge amounts of trackback enabled blogs based on your keywords. It then allows you to post trackbacks in a special “slow release†formula, kind of like those all day cold relief tabs…
Well shoot, if I said more, I’d get myself in trouble. What you need to know for now is that it’s built on a disgustingly efficient frame that’s bound to make it the blog owner’s nightmare of 2007.
In case you haven’t grasped what this is about yet, think backlinks: thousands and thousands of keywords targeted one way backlinks. Evil backlinks…
As I write this, I’m almost experiencing a twinge of remorse. I get massive spam on this blog and it grows daily. I’ve made some “resource oriented posts†lately and I enjoy fraternizing with my more mainstream white hat counterparts.
But Net Frontier Marketing is more than just one spin on the internet marketing thing. If I can cover multiple angles, great.
That’s how this black had endorsing post fits into it all. Just like positive product reviews (comment hut) and negative ones (duvet dollars).
What’s my niche then? People that can put up with my dual nature and hybrid coverage.
Trackback Spider is scheduled for release in the near future and you can be sure I’ll give you a more in depth review as soon as its creator gives me the green light.

I run a relatively new article directory site about 6 months old.
My traffic is in the cellar, and so is my pagerank.
The Trackback Spider sounds like it could help in both areas.
I can understand the concept behind mass posting applications. But I’m worried about leaving my IP footprint all over the place. Should I be?
I’m pretty much a novice at this whole SEO business and I’m just trying to feel my way thru. I would gladly invest in the Spider if I were convinced it would help and not hurt.
Thanks,
Jerry
Hi Jerry,
This is a good question that comes up all the time. The answer is no: you can’t mix your white hat sites with black hat applications.
What you’re doing right now is building a longterm business/website. You can’t do that using very aggressive tactics or you will give yourself a bad rap and or get complaints to your host, which won’t help you one bit.
The article directory model is very saturated right now and it’s not easy to make a real dent in that market without heavy resources.
It all depends on the goal of your project…
I noticed you have close to zero inbound links from other sites. You need those and should consider at the very least submitting your site to directories, perhaps submitting articles of your own and also doing the regular white hat link building thing. Maybe a blog could even help.
It’s not going to be easy… Once you have some links going that way, you’ll be able to evaluate if it’s worth it for you to pay for more links or not.
Cheers,
Alex
Hi
I am a customer of Jareds but have heard nothing about this tool… I am anxiously excited about it but HOW DO I GET IT?
Thanks
Hi Freddy,
It’s not available yet. I’m sure Jared will let you know when it is. If you want to be sure not to miss it, you can sign up to my alert list at http://www.projectblackhat.com if you haven’t already and I’ll be sure to let you know the minute it’s on the market.

Hi Alex
I’ve been getting emails from Jared for a while now about trackback spider. I knew the date of the launch and I can’t believe that this information was not at some stage already in the hands of the major search engines. They are gonna be looking hard for signs of this method of getting links.
The price for the programme which was only announced a few hours ago is $97 a month. Regarding Jerry’s article, there will apparently be no trace of IP’s as the programme is being operated through TOR.
By doing a monthly subscription Jared is obviously controlling potential abuse of his system ie the enthusiastic idiot who wants 20,000 links in a week!
I’ve got no doubts that Jared is a very clever guy and he has invested $50,000 and about 18 months into the development but Google have also got some very clever guys and an awful lot more money.
For me, I’ve spent too much time building a legit site and I don’t think it is worth the risk. You may gain at the start but the penalty for being caught is too much of a gamble.
I’ve just had another email (2 hours after the launch) saying that 200 of his 300 maximum cut off have gone, so it looks like a sell out.
Regards
Chris
Hi Chris,
Here is what I think. This is great for spamming, not so good for your established legit site. In fact I wouldn’t touch it with a ten foot pole for white hat sites.
It’s a great program for black hat and from what I hear, it is sold out.
Trackback spider is a worthless piece of crap. Any blog that’s been active in the last year has software that checks trackbacks for reciprocal links. And in spite of the creator’s contention that you can’t be traced, DUHHHHH what about the links to your sites?
“Black Hat” stuff is a bunch old rehashed garbage that is a waste of money. I challenge anyone using Trackback Spider to try to get a link into my site http://www.okwebtv.ca …
Can’t believe people still fall for the same old snake oil.
Hi David,
Thanks for your intelligently formulated comment.
It’s true the internet only contains blogs that were created in the last year. But that’s a moot point since trackback spider doesn’t have a sneaky script that fakes the linkback (wink, wink).
You make us proud to be Canadian, eh.
Sorry you didn’t care for the formulation of my comment.
I was just pissed off because a friend of mine was dumb enough to spend $97 on a product that does nothing for him, and that is easily protected against by a free plugin.

Again, my apologies for my lack of intelligence. I guess I’d have to question yours for pushing this waste of money.
Hi David,
I recognize you now as a reader and I didn’t mean to insult you but there are issues with your judgment in this matter, which I’ll now explain.
Firstly, I wrote this months before it was released and have as of yet not promoted it.
If I did, I would explain exactly how I believe it should be used.
It should not be used on traceable sites (think parasite host if you know enough about BH to understand the term).
Secondly, it does dupe spam-karma, so that is a non-issue.
Thirdly, I tested this software and got hundreds of links with it easily. If your friend bought it under the wrong impression, I can only say he should have read the sales letter more carefully because I have and it is dead clear on what trackback spider does and doesn’t do. There is no confusion to be had.
Finally, I do BH SEO myself and know it’s not everyone’s cup of tea but I would like to see you have a more reasonable perspective on the matter…
Trackback Spider is a piece of junk. I bought it to give a try and will NEVER use again, this is just stupid. You’d better get Trackback Submitter (this is what I used before ordering TB Spider, and I use TB Submitter again)
Hi Eric,
Would you mind elaborating? I know a small percentage of people have had technical issues with Trackback Spider but I have not.
From using it, I can say the working version is anything but junk.
I’ve heard of TrackBack Submitter but never used it. I tried to contact the makers but they never replied, which eliminated them from having me as a customer.
I can’t comment on their quality because of that. Details would be appreciated.
But does Trackback Submitter have the special slow release formula? Easy enough to add if it doesn’t.
Does Trackback Spider have “intelligent”, yet relevant *and* varied comments? That’s the key to making comment spamdexing work.
Hey Tom,
Actually, it does have the slow release formula. You can tell it to trackback any number of URLs per day per campaign and it just runs in the background until it runs out of links.
Since you enter the comments yourself, you would have to hope they are “intelligent”
. They are as varied as you make them.
I also hear they are adding an impressive array of new features very shortly.
Alex,
To use Trackback spider for affilate slam, does one have to process via Tor? Tor seems slow and I was wondering if can avoid it.
Hi Sunil,
I highly recommend it for affiliate slam and it also works well with Adsense sites.
You can avoid TOR, it’s just there for the paranoid. If you start using it massively, you might want to consider it.
Remember that trackback spider can run scheduled jobs as a background process 24 hours a day…
