The Art Factor

Adsense and Adwords

Success in Business? There’s even more to it than hard work!

While almost all gurus, at one point or another, would have you believe that success, money and financial freedom through the internet will come easily, it’s plainly not true.

Most people would rather buy a dream than buy work. And work is what you will need if you are to get anywhere.

Definitive Guide Google AdwordsJust last night before falling asleep, I was in bed reading Perry Marshall’s Renaissance Club Newsletter. It was the second issue I had received and the first one I actually read since my time is spread so thin and I expected to put it down in 5 minutes with a yawn and yet another “so what”.

I was very pleasantly surprised to find myself absorbed and interested to the point where my mind put aside its exhaustion and greedily drank in the great content it found on those brief pages.

I started right in the thick of things with a powerful rant from one of Perry Marshall’s Renaissance Club readers. The ranter was explaining in colorful description how he would like to buy the system itself, not the how-to and why it’s much easier to buy and sell “air” than it is results.

One of the most interesting pieces to me was when he came to this conclusion: what has worked and works for others may not work for you. They are in a unique position to reap rewards from a specific endeavor and no matter how hard you try, chances are you will never be able to emulate their success exactly.

The reason he gave for this was “The Art Factor”, that “Something About Mary” effect that elevates certain marketers to unique levels of success while leaving the copy cats and wannabes (even the very best ones) in the dust.

The Art Factor is hard to put your finger on. It sometimes resides in little copywriting quirks that befriend a readers consciousness/unconsciousness. It can almost come down to brief – or not so brief – flashes of genius.

Therefore, if you are to reach the top tier of self-created success, you will need hard work and genius.

At first glance that may seem a bit intimidating. “Nobody ever told me I would need to be a genius to make it in this business”.

But wait a minute, it’s not as bad as it seems. You don’t necessarily need an IQ of 150 to be a genius. Just take a look at autistic geniuses or “idiot savants”: their IQ is well below average and they are in fact handicapped with incomplete brain development. Yet some of them go on to perform feats that test the limits of possibility.

Because they focus what they have to the point of obsession on a very narrow task or accomplishment. And they love it. Nothing brings them the same level of satisfaction and never do they suffer so much as when it is taken away.

Which brings us to perhaps the most determining factor of all: can genius be cultivated inside any person or is it a lucky draw reserved for a select few that can thank fate for their good fortune?

My personal answer: probably the latter. But it’s not so clear cut. You never really know when passion can hit you. You might be 20 or 40 or 60, or you may be born with it.

Some will leave it aside while some will sharpen it like a sword on the anvil and hold it up to the flame until it becomes unbreakable. And those people will break down obstacles as though they never existed.

How can you tell if you are passionate about marketing? Here’s another tidbit from the Renaissance Club Newsletter:

“You know you’re a Marketing Maniac when: Your relatives and friends start giving you their junk mail because they “thought you might be interested.” And you, oddly, find that you are interested.”

I’m a Marketing Maniac. I love it. I read junk mail like it could save my life.

My particular obsession right now is marketing affiliate products, specifically with Google Adwords. In fact it’s that exact obsession that got the Renaisssance Club Newsletter in my hands with Perry Marshall’s Definitive Guide to Google Adwords.

The Guide itself sells for $49 but you can actually kill two birds with one stone and save some money.

Check out this special introductory offer for the Renaissance Club: you get the first issue, 5 cds, and a bunch of tools delivered right to your door. And you get the Definitive Guide to Google Adwords in an immediately downloadable ebook, all for only $29.95.

It’s an exceptional value and I give it my absolute highest recommendation.

Ever wanted more than what you can find on forums, ebooks, websites, blogs and the lot?

This is it.
