Here’s What Happens when a Get Rich Quick Scam Goes Awfully Wrong
Right when “Victoria”, author of the latest runaway “get rich quick on the internet” ebook smash was about to start raking in the big bucks, an unlikely series of events conspired to make her fall flat on her face. Watch as the “guru” gets tarred and feathered in the most public way possible.
Here is the series of coincidences that caused the fall from grace.
1) A New Scheme is Born: February 23rd, 2007: Refusing all appeals to common sense, “Victoria” launches a sordidly awful get rich quick ebook under the sadly misguided title “Duvet Dollars” (make money while you sleep, yes?). The degree of ridicule in this name might have pre-destined it to an unpleasant fate, but it was not enough to create the thrashing the author would soon receive.
2) A Giant Stirs: March 10th, 2007: In a much different and completely unrelated corner of the internet, a widely followed and quoted influencer becomes very angry. He’s had enough of what he calls “ebook scams”, those get rich quick volumes that are pushed by big gurus with their inflated income statements and sales letters full of hype. He’s tired of seeing innocent people get sucked into to these schemes and making the undeserving authors rich. He expresses himself in a public outcry and resolves to “do something about it.
3) Online Incest
Meanwhile, from the launch of Duvet Dollars, the gurus have been at it again. In the high circles of guru authority, much backslapping and cross promotion hits inboxes everywhere as these unsavory characters further their interests and those of their peers by hyping up Duvet Dollars some more.
The ebook is reaching critical mass, the time when every internet marketer wannabe has heard of the product and the Search Engine results are clogged with favorable reviews from affiliates. The trap is set and the money is flowing in.
4) An Unlikely Display of Common Sense
As new comers right and left are being duped into buying this latest scheme, the more experienced members of the community are calling the book a steaming pile of rubbish. The word begins to spread but nobody has the individual power to slow down the powerful profit machine that is now firing on all cylinders. Except…
5) The Hammer Falls
March 11th: Disciples of the Angry Giant smell the opportunity and they want blood. The Giant, alerted by his hoards, seizes the opportunity to make good on his earlier promise, swings his mighty hammer and hits Duvet Dollars right where it hurts. Out comes an intoxicatingly funny and irrevocably negative review.
To top it off, the giant posts links to warez sites where the offending ebook can be downloaded for free.
6) Google Takes Care of the Rest
March 12th: This would all have been quite meaningless in the general scheme of things without our trusty friend Google. As it stands, the page that attacks Duvet Dollars and smashes it to smithereens occupies the second result on the search engine.
There it is, a big glaring unraveling of the ploy, complete with profanity and humor.
“Victoria” goes into damage control mode but the hurt is done and the top listing is there to stay, a permanent witness to the guru’s fallacy.

It’s funny how some people can lie, even in their reviews. Here’s one on “eZineArticles” by Rich Henderson
He said, “After using the Duvet Dollars methods myself it is easy to see that even a novice at internet marketing can use these methods as they are pretty straight forward, it is actually the uniqueness that gives the package an edge.”
Now, does that mean he used the “methods” *in* Duvet Dollars… or he used *similar* methods, methods he already knew about that were spoken about in Duvet Dollars?
Of course, he has his affiliate link after posting his sham review.
I really hate this dishonesty in reviewers.

Hey Bryan,
Right on the money. Some affiliates are really indescriminate in what they will promote to make a buck. Most of the time people get away with it. This time, Rich got caught out.
I hope this Duvet Dollars Saga is a lesson to the people that would polish a turd to turn a buck.

Yep.
I think this product is from Chris of Affiliate Project X, isn’t it? If so, I may unsub from all of his lists.
This project was totally wrong to do, especially on how deceitful the salesletter was.
I think the tide may be turning.

Hey Bryan,
A lot of people seem to think Chris is behind this. I happen to know him and he’s not. He just sent one email and if you read between the lines, you realize it’s a product more for beginners than advanced people.
I do think the salesletter may have been written by the same person but I don’t have all the details.

Thanks for the clarification, Alex.

I enjoyed the show with this one. I really hope that this will send out the message that there are way too many ebooks out there that rehash the same old stuff over and over again.

I agree with you, the big stain in the Serps for Duvet Dollars is just but the warez thing goes too far.
