Duvet Dollars Sucks and This Guy is Really Pissed
If you're new here, you may want to subscribe to my RSS feed. Thanks for visiting!
So a couple of weeks ago, this new internet marketing ebook came out named “Duvet Dollars”.
Of course my inboxes got hammered as usual but I didn’t even check out the sales letter because the name sounds so blindingly stupid, I couldn’t imagine any good would come of it.
Well, this weekend, I had an inkling of free time so I went over to the sales page and gave it a good read.
People are getting smart. This is another strong sales letter with big fat income claims that make you want to whip out your wallet. A page written this well has the advantage of lending enough credibility to the product for even experienced affiliates such as myself to take the plunge.
So, to my great dismay, I bought Duvet Dollars. How bad could it be right? And I could learn something, even if it’s just a little tidbit hidden deep on the corner of a page, right?
UGH. Wrong. Really, really wrong.
Duvet Dollars is awful.
I really don’t get it. How can you spend thousands of dollars getting professional copy written for a product like this? Why not put some of that money and effort into the product itself and deliver some value to your customers?
As it stands, Duvet Dollars could have been written by a cheap ghostwriter who was instructed to rewrite an abridged version of Affiliate Project X. Whoever hired him must have also instructed to remove the good parts and replace them with really long explanations on how to set up an Adwords account. Painful.
Folks, this one won out in my “crappy product of the week” race, but sadly, not by much. There’s another real stinker out there that I’ll have to write up in the next couple of days.
Actually, Duvet Dollars made me kinda mad. I’m used to sales pitches, I’m used to products that under deliver. I’ve seen it all I think sometimes. This one was really cheesy though and that name…
Well I thought I was mad until I read this review by off his rocker affiliate Aojon.
This guy really needs to get back on his meds.
He’s been wankering on about how “all ebooks are scams” for a couple of days now and it’s pretty damn pathetic.
Supposedly, this guy is a hot shot affiliate and with the citations he gets in the big mainstream blogs, it seems like he has some respect from the industry.
With childish and grossly over generalizing posts like this one, it leaves you to wonder why.
In a nutshell, this guy says that all internet marketing ebooks are scams. Yes, all of them. Because you could learn that stuff from forums or blogs for free. But wait, even those aren’t good enough for learning.
“I’ll let you in on a little secret. You cannot LEARN how to be a super affiliate from an ebook or a forum or even a blog. It’s not something you can read in a book or learn from by watching TV or even attending an expensive seminar.”
That’s right, you can’t learn from anybody else’s experience, you have to get bitch slapped the whole entire way.
He does come up with some really articulate, well thought out reasons why all internet marketing ebooks are scams, things like:
“I’ve never once come across a single one of them offering anything valuable or new that you can’t find for free on a forum or a blog.”
What, did you change your mind already on blogs and forums?
All kidding aside, he’s probably border line right. Most of the information found in most internet marketing ebooks is part of the public domain.
But here’s the deal: some people would rather swap $77 to get a condensed, step-by-step system laid out for them rather than wade though a thousand blog and forum posts to piece things together for themselves.
And who can blame them. That’s certainly what I do.
Affiliate Project X was the spark that got me back into affiliate marketing after 2 years of inaction. I’m now making several thousand more than I was before. Without it I never would have had the motivation or drive to do it.
New products also keep help you abreast of what’s going on in the internet marketing world and that’s the other reason I buy them: trend spotting.
Granted, Duvet Dollars was awful but that’s not a statement that should be generalized so widely.
Anyways, this so-called “respectable guy” goes on to post the download links for Duvet Dollars right there on his site so people can steal the author’s work.
When the author realizes what’s going on, she changes the delivery system and Aojon posts links to download the Ebook from warez sites.
Two wrongs don’t make a right. The funny thing is that he seems to revel in his “anti-guru” status. What he doesn’t seem to realize is that makes him just as much a guru as the people he’s trying to discredit. A bit more of this and he’ll need a new dedicated server just to host his giant ego.
As it stands, Duvet Dollars is a crappy product and it deserves all the criticism it gets. That doesn’t justify infringing the author’s copyright and I hope this mad man’s shenanigans get him sued rightfully.

Brilliant!!!
Hi i am totally new to all this stuff and i bought d.dollars when it came out, Whilst it taught me the basics about affiliate marketing i soon found out i could have learned a lot of this stuff elsewhere and for less money!
I am not put of affiliate marketing but i am a bit disillusioned about a lot of these people now, i read that blog from that jon guy and even though he has a point he needs to try and be a bit more constructive and a bit less abusive! In my opinion.
Then i read what you have posted and just wanted to say
you have given the same warning to new people like myself but in a much more eloquent fasion, i agree totally with you about getting a book rather than spending hours wading through blogs etc, I also like you hope jon gets what he deserves just for being downright abusive, not to mention stealing the copyright!
Anyway, thanks for a refreshing and reassuring read.
All the best.

Hey Simon,
Thanks for your comment. It’s surprisingly hard to come by an honest opinion about some of the “top” internet marketing products.
There are some real goodies in there. Best of luck on your quest for profits.

So where does one start?

Hi Nate,
That’s a huge question. The answer is a bit cheesy. Find out what you like doing and combine it with what you’re good at, that will give you a basis for how you should jump in.
There are so many ways to make money online. You need to focus on something you’re willing to make the needed investment in time and effort to see it through to the end. Focusing on one thing is the key.

Hey Nate,
At least you told the truth about duvet dollars, I just had to check to see if you had an CB affiliate hop link in Duvet Dollars link above, and you didn’t, cheers, a breath of fresh air, meanwhile I’m busy busting my as# building a quality content site and I know it will be a success
Thanks,

I have to say that i am using Duvet Dollars and i am making money just fine, in the beginning it was a little hard and i have had to put the time and dedication in to learning everything, but I couldn’t be happier, I think too many people are looking to get rich without doing the work and they are the ones doing the complaining.
