Comment Hut – The Quest for Backlinks Continues

by alex · 15 comments

Internet Marketing Reviews

Search Engine Optimization used to be a more varied field. I guess that statement in itself is debatable but it seems like today SEO should be replaced with ‘the Art of Generating Backlinks”.

And no, not just any back link. Preferrably high PR and necessarily on topic backlinks are what the search engines want. The rest (read metatags, on page factors, et. Al.) pale in comparison.

People trade links on digital point and other forums (do not confuse with link exchanges, they are near worthless). They buy and sell links on ebay, they pay for reviews on various sites like reviewme.com and they use link brokering services like textlinkads.com to boost their sites’ linking profiles.

And all of those are actually pretty sound methods when used in a way that doesn’t raise a flag with the search engines. Hint, cover your tracks and keep it low profile…

But now here’s an interesting little piece of software that will get you some on topic, high PR links in a jiffy, and for a pittance.

Commenthut.com

comment hut high PR backlinksSounds a little spammy but I think you know I have nothing against spam. The search engine kind that is. Can’t stand the pink stuff in a can that makes one think of processed – I’ll spare you.

Turns out comment hut is not a spam tool at all. In fact it’s a pretty ingenious little application that seeks out keyword targeted commentable blogs from 5 different platforms. It then neatly displays these URLs in clickable format so you can visit the site and leave a comment.

It also seeks out the PR of these various blogs and you can filter out the ones you don’t want. Say anything below a PR4.

What shape or form that comment takes is up to you since the software cannot intervene beyond this point.

Since you actually have to write up the comment manually, you probably won’t want to use this for spamming but it will certainly do the job for grey hat SEO.

There are two versions available: free and paid (full version).

The full version of Comment Hut allows you to find 10 times more blogs and supports the following platforms:

1. WordPress blogs
2. WordPress.com blogs
3. Drupal blogs
4. LiveJournal blogs
5. Typepad blogs

The free version (Comment Hut Lite), does exactly the same thing but only gives you access to 10% of results and only works on WordPress blogs.

To download your free copy of Comment Hut Lite, all you have to do is visit the site. You need to optin but it’s worth it to try out this nifty little tool. The full version can be a real pot of gold…

Not only is it good for finding comments but it’s a great networking tool. Just running Comment Hut, I was able to find more interesting blogs related to the keywords I was searching than Blog Search or Google itself turned up…

    Hey Jean,

Thanks for the encouragement. Comment Hut is a nifty little app. Cudos to the team for making a free version that has high value.

    Hey Alex,

I can see the potential with this software, as I’ve already taken it for a test drive(Free Version).

My question is, how do you avoid the “nofollow” attribute automatically applied to WordPress and probably other platforms?

  4. alex says:

    Hi Cory,

The software doesn’t do it for you. Rather than reading the post first and preparing a comment, it’s more efficient if you do the following when using comment hut.

    1) Check the page source for the rel=”no follow” attribute.
    2) Check if you need to sign up to comment (might be worth it anyways)
    3) Check if the comment page has the indicated PR (sometimes you only see PR on the main post page).

I forgot to include gfblogger (dot) comin prior list.

    Thanks.

  7. alex says:

    Hi Nick,

    Thank you for your comment.

The entire suite of products you listed is made by the same company, namely marketSOS.

While I’ve often been tempted to buy them, I’ve heard a few bad things about them that has put me off. If you know the owner of these sites, you could have him drop me a line and I will look at them and test them for myself. I’d be thrilled if they worked as advertised because they would be a great addition to any linking arseral.

That being said, comment hut is different from most of these because it’s not really black hat. It’s more greyish.

It doesn’t auto post comments, it just finds relevant high PR sites for you to comment on.

You can use it to make your white hat sites rank or to send link juice to blog farms for other nucleus sites from your network but it’s too time consuming to use as a link dropping tool for mass black hat applications.

I also sent you an email.

  8. Nick says:

    Hi Alex,

    Thanks for your answer.

Don´t know the owners but will try to let them know about this trend.Maybe they can let you review products and help us in the purchasing decision.

BTW, I did not get your email. Sent u one today.

    Thanks again. :)

    Nick

    Hi Nick,

Sorry I missed you with that email. Emailed you just now. I’ll be glad to post an honest review of those products or any other on this blog.

  10. Bishop says:

    Hi guys,

I’m Bishop, and I am tightly integrated with the good folks at MarketerSOS.com.

I would like to share a little insight if its okay with you. (yes, it is going to be biased :-)

First, it’s not really correct to call them black hat programs. The actual programs are just marketing programs. The varied color hats come by way of the user.

Sort of like a car…. it can be used to go from point a to point b, or it can be used to run down innocent people minding their own business.

It isnt actualy the car at fault, it’s the driver. Now, with that being said, my personal view is that I very much like black hat tactics. It’s usually faster, less work, and a lot more fun.

Now, about the commenthut software. Yes, it sounds pretty good, but there is something better in terms of generating higher quality backlinks.

Its a directory submitter. Similar to comment hut, it is not fully automated. It goes so far as to find the places for you to submit your link in, and it even fills out the forms when it’s able to, but it doesnt actualy push the button to make the post.

So, in short it walks you right up to the door, and stops and waits for you to turn the knob to walk in.

Now, this directory submitter also allows you to find proper backlinks by keyword targeting, and it also allows you to filter the returned results via pagerank. clearly to very powerful features.

But, it doesnt limit you in any way. No restrictions on where you can post, or how many, or anything else.

And I guess the most powerful part is the fact that it is completely free, no strings attached. You dont have to give your name or email, you dont have to register it in any way. You just download it and start using it.

You may want to filter out this link, but I’ll put it in here just in case you want to get a copy and sort of compare it against the comment hut from a backlink perspective.

  11. alex says:

    Hi Bishop,

While I won’t bundle all the products under the black hat umbrella, I’d say at least some of them are pretty much designed for those purposes.

On the otherhand, I think that’s a good thing and I use black hat apps regularly and enjoy doing so.

I did download the directory submitter and gave it a try, I haven’t played around with it enough to say a lot about it but it certainly seems to have valid uses.

To me it doesn’t replace Comment Hut because it’s something else entirely. It definitely has its uses and I’m glad you brought it up since many will find it useful.

I’m on the verge of another black hat publication, if you can get me in touch with the MarketerSOS guys, I’d like to review a couple of their products.

Thanks for your valuable imput, I appreciate your constructive comment.

    Alex

  12. Bishop says:

    Hey Alex,

Sure I can put you in touch with them…. but I really can’t just post their personal contact email here, so I guess, if you will just write to me via the email address on my post, I’ll get you connected.

By the way — I bought your ebook today.

  13. Bishop says:

    oh… wait… yes I can.

They are now publishing their yahoo id as well as phone number on some of their sites.

    the yahoo id is
    specialoperationssoftware

  14. Freddy says:

MarketerSOS.com. (makers of pingslingerII) make poor products. Thats a FACT… read the reviews online. When the tools dont work they blame the user for not working them corectly but go ahead and try them for youself, why are there no FREE fully working demos? becuase if you demo’d them you would see they dont work. If they offer a restricted feature demo it only shows the tool so you cannot assess the functionaility and effectiveness.

I have bought two from them one being pingslinger GEN2 but its pure junk…try loading in more than 50 urls and the software crashes, freezes, load in less and only half the pings go out… I got a refun for the tools as they are badly made and function poorly. I am a user of many Blackhat tools including FantoMaster and as such am trying to find new ways to constantly get my links placed, my advice avoide all these tools as they are really not worth the waste of your time

Just my opinion but seems the same for most people about these tools.

I love BlackHat, Grey Hat, WHit Hat and all inbetween.. But I love money more and I invest in my business. Its a shame that 75% of these so called wonder tools are just JUNK, wasting our time, causing problems for our business and generally being an insult top the average half intelligent person.

BTW Alex, your blogs gr8, has helped me to identofy REAL tools that REALLY work and saved me money & time.

    Keep it up buddy!

    Freddy

  15. alex says:

    Hi Freddy,

Thanks for your comments, I’m glad you like the blog, it’s always nice to get good feedback.

I did get in contact with Marketer SOS and tested one of their products called Vsearchvoodoo. It actually worked quite well although it didn’t have the level of comment placing automation I would have liked.

The people that run the company are actually good people and while I have seen my share of bad reviews for their stuff, I hesitate to label them as all bad.

What came out from my discussion with them was rather that their tools are made more for the beginner and aren’t really made for us power BH guys.

And finally, you’re right, there’s a spectacular amount of junk on the net and it grows each day. If you ever come accross really good or really bad products, shoot me an email alex (at) netfrontiermarketing (dot) com and I’ll gladly review it so people can either enjoy or avoid it.

    Thanks again,

    Alex
