Adwords Killer Review
"Adwords Killer: The Good, the Bad and the Ugly"
13 Adwords Guides later, does Adwords Killer Have Anything to Offer?
The objective of this Adwords Killer Review is to help you determine if Adwords Killer is right for you and how it fits in with other Adwords ebooks.
As an Adwords Professional, I buy and test every new Adwords guide that comes out (this is my 13th so far) because if I can pick up just a small nugget of information from it, it will be worth 10 times the investment.
First we look at how Adwords Killer addresses the main issues of Adwords and then we analyze what unique features and benefits, if any it brings to the buyer.
Adwords Killer not as well known as some of the other products out there but it's certainly in the top picks, and at the very top for some categories.
The General Adwords
Mastery Categories
Niche Research: Finding the Right Products to Promote
Rating: 9/10
Finding the right product to promote is a huge part of success using adwords. This is one of the strongest points of Adwords Killer. Not only does it provide tactics for finding hot products that will convert well, it also clearly and very intelligently states which niches should be avoided.
Adwords Killer also introduces you to the “keyword to product” approach to finding niches. This is a step up on what most guides offer. This way of researching a niche will help you find more winners and weed out more weak campaigns from the start. The guide also has clear markers of competitive analysis, another huge time saver.
The guide also branches away from Clickbank products, which is a refreshing idea, since there is so much money to be made with other kinds of affiliate products promoted from Adwords.
Finally, one of my favorite parts of the guide is something called the “Countour Technique”. The most savvy marketers know how to use this to get some of the most sought after traffic for pennies on the dollar. We’re talking about traffic that will convert on home business offers but only costs 5 to 10 cents a click...
Keyword Selection:
Rating: 7.5/10
Adwords Killer gets a relatively strong grade in this department because it has some very strong tips despite lacking depth in other aspects.
It starts by explaining the traffic cycle, or how traffic quality goes from “Information Seekers” to “Considerers” to “Buyers”.
All these clicks can be worthwhile but you need to know what to do with them because sending the wrong traffic type to the wrong page will give you mediocre results while getting this right will have huge commission checks coming your way.
Adwords Killer also brushes up on the concept of brand name traffic. This can be very powerful and while Adwords Killer does a decent job on this chapter, it does leave some money on the table by missing an advanced tactic I will get into below.
The guide has a unique position on negative keywords. In other words those you want to block from your campaigns because they drain your money. This was another strong point and this adwords guide even provides a comprehensive list.
Finally, this section ends with “Hidden Gold Keywords”. This was a very strong finisher, suggesting some keyword tactics that really are extremely powerful. This is akin to the “Contour Method” mentioned above. Getting this right can squeeze a lot of extra money out of any product and will set you up with terms nobody else has thought of.
Profitability and Ad Optimization:
Getting the Most Bang for Your Buck
Rating: 8.5/10
Adwords Killer is very complete in this department.
This adwords guide starts by proposing two distinct methods of using adwords: the “Fail Fast” method for those that want big results fast and are ready to drop some dollars and the “Earn Slow” method for those that prefer to take is slow and steady with hardly any risk involved.
Adwords Killer has a strong section on keyword matching types, aka how to use the broad, phrase and exact match. It also shows you some tips I had not encountered to get your overall CTR up when your broad match is out-performing the exact match.
This guide goes further than any other in the structuring of adgroups for optimal clickthroughs and lowest bid pricing. It also touches up on dynamic keyword insertion and the highest converting positions for your ads to appear in.
Ad Writing and CTR
Rating 7.5/10
While Adwords Killer doesn’t provide many of the basics of writing ads for Google Adwords, it does provide quite a few advanced tips that make the guide worthwhile in this department. After all, it’s much easier to come by the basics than the really advanced tips.
These advanced tips include the “Super Relevance” trick that will get impulse clickers to boost your CTR. It also shows how to steal headlines from merchants and transform them into powerful ads.
Adwords Killer contains two other tricks to use when you really want to jack up your CTR: using special symbols and special words that you will need to use in the right situation but that can get your CTR up another 25%.
These are a couple of tricks I will certainly start using immediately as I saw the value in them right away and CTR is such an essential part of paying less than competitors and drawing more high converting traffic your way.
Landing Pages: Converting the Traffic you Buy
Rating: 7.0/10
Adwords Killer skims a bit too quickly over review writing and comparison pages. It also ignores entirely one of my favorite tactics as it applies to brand name traffic although it does mention the “bonus tactic” and how to create these easily. We will go in more depth at the end of this review.
Adwords Killer does have a strong section on getting a high quality score (which is capital in keeping your bids as low as possible) something we will review shortly. It also has some powerful headline tips that will draw the reader into your landing pages and further elaborates the “Contour Technique”, something you are sure to find invaluable.
Tracking: Where are Your Results Coming From?
Rating: 5/10
Tracking your Adwords Campaigns is one of the most important things you can do to maximize ROI. Sometimes the simple act of tracking and filtering out losing keywords will make the difference between losing and making hundreds of dollars a day.
While Adwords Killer does mention this, it give precious little information or suggestion as to how track should be implemented. On the other hand, that’s not the reason I bought this book and it certainly shouldn’t be the reason you buy it.
Support and Updates: can you Get Help if You Need it?
Rating: 9.5/10
Will Halliburton, the author of Adwords Killer was very quick and helpful in replying to questions and concerns. Having a pro of his caliber ready to help you out makes the price of the book a small price to pay in and of itself.
Features Specific to Adwords Killer
Rating: 9.5/10
Account Quality Score:
There are not many extra features but there is one that is so important it brings Adword Killers score in this section way up.
While most guides touch up slightly on quality scores for your adwords account, many understate and underestimate its importance.
The quality score of your account will be monumentally important as it allows you to avoid being “google slapped” and insures you will pay less per click for a higher ad position than your competitors.
This is capitally important if ever you get into a bidding war or when you want to get the jump on a high converting launch and you need the top positions while paying a reasonable fee.
For these tips, Adwords Killer gets a double thumbs up.
Newbies will have a tendency to ignore this and they will bitterly regret it down the road. This advice is a solid as is gets and is capitally important to your long term success.
With Adwords Killer, you will be way beyond the Google Slap and view it as an advantage when Google updates since others will be penalized but your quality score will only make you rise higher.
Profiting with the Content Network:
Most other books will tell you that you should either use the content network very sparingly or not at all.
Adwords Killer is not one of them. Not only does the guide suggest you make use of it, it also shows you how to write ads specifically for the content network, how to bid for it and one of the most powerful unique pieces of advice this guide or any other in its category contains.
This refers to using site targeting for ad placement. Think you have squeezed everything out of a campaign? Chances are you can use these tips to double or triple the traffic and profits.
Extra Tips and Tactics:

Extra Tips
Adwords Killer Overall Grade
Rating: 8/10
A lot of guides try to through other stuff in with the Adwords information we are really after. Adwords Killer is not one of those.
The only thing that were a bit weak with Adwords Killer was the lack of a powerful tactic to convert brand name traffic, which we will get to next.
Another thing that might annoy some people is a strong pitch to become an affiliate of Adwords Killer right in the content at the end of the book. I personally prefer to see this in an email or in the download section but not so much in the product itself. However to me it does not take away from the overall quality of this great guide.
Who should buy Adwords Killer:
While it does contain a fast start guide for newbies, Adwords Killer contains a lot of advanced knowledge and will be most beneficial to intermediate and moderately advanced players.
If you are an affiliate marketer with a decent base, this is the #1 Adwords guide to take you to the next level.
Patching the Hole
Yes, there is a small drawback to Adwords Killer, and that’s the way the guide handles brandname traffic. While the suggestions in the guide will get you some decent conversions for this traffic, simply put, it’s possible to do much better.
It’s a slightly sneaky bait and switch approach that you might find somewhat unsavory but it’s perfectly legit and converts up to 1000% ROI…
What I'm referring to is a specific way of writting reviews that pratically forces your visitors to read to then end and use your affiliate link to make the purchase.
Pre-Sell Templates
Writing these all powerful pre-sells can be a bit daunting and it's not covered at all in Adwords Killer.
That's why I built a "patch". It's called Pre-sell templates and squeeze pages. What you get is a nearly 20 page report that explains exactly how to write these pages.
But I leave nothing to chance and actually provide templates. You just change the works and product names and upload to your site. Complete with html and css, you can be ready to convert in minutes.
I use these myself and can't do without. What I'm willing to do is give a free copy to the next 15 people that buy through this link. At 15 copies, the competition stays really low.
I'll also give you my personal email if you need help writing or tweaking your campaigns.
To sweeten the pot just a little more, I'll also let you have my 22 page report Adsense Arbitrage Exposed. Many have said I should sell for good money. You get it free with your purchase if your one of the first 15 people.
